Frequently Asked Questions

  • If I want to find a business do I have to pay and sign up or become a member?

Check the Trades is a free service to the public. You do not need to create an account or provide any information. Enter the business category or name in the purple search box to get started.

  • How do I know the listed businesses are reputable?

We have an extensive process that we use for all businesses who apply to be listed on our site. Only those businesses that meet or exceed Check the Trades Certification process can be listed. All businesses must also sign our Code of Conduct.

  • Do you guarantee the work of your listed members?

It is not possible for us to guarantee the work performed, products supplied or services received from any listed business. However, you can be sure we have completed all of the steps in our certification process. It is important that you are clear with the business you select as to the scope and expected quality of the work to be performed or products to be received and that you obtain written quotes and time to complete estimates as appropriate.

  • What if I can't find a business category I am looking for?

We are continually adding new categories and listings. If you don't find what you are looking for please contact us and we will see what we can do.

  • Why do we want references on our listed businesses?

It is important to us to know how the consumers experience has been with our listed businesses. We continually update and add new references to our member's profile pages to keep our consumers up to date. This helps you and other consumers make an informed choice. To provide references you can go to the references tab at the top or simply click here.
